We should not force-autoupdate the application, but ask the user if he wants do download the new update. Not everytime you are connected to the internet you want to download a 54 MB application without knowing. And if an application update has a major problem, users can simply download an older version of the app.

I think the easiest and quickes solution would be to just add a yes and a no button to the dialog that informs you about the update. Would that be a good first step?
