With some webcams, there is an incompatibility with Teams and the overlay image is not rendered, instead a corrupted frame is shown. It might be related to their video stream format.

This issue could be used as a list of incompatible cameras, so we can later obtain them and debug the issue.

I got it working if you read the issue you linked. But yes, there is an issue somewhere as is not working out of the box.

I have a Lenovo Laptop, which comes bundled with a software called Lenovo Vantage which has similar features to Video conferencing mute in Power Toys. But when I install power toys and start using the video conferencing mute feature, only my mic gets muted and my camera doesn't moreover, the built in feature to disable the camera also stops working.

Logitech c922 Pro Stream Webcam worked fine with MS Teams until I installed PowerToys. Worse is that I cannot disable Video Conference Mute so will have to uninstall PowerToys (option to enable/disable is greyed out)

Check if you have a warning on Device Manager. I believe the “passthrough” driver was causing the issue with me. I put a screenshot on one of my posts. Canon EOS Webcam Utility, which allows to use DSLRs as webcams, also doesn`t work with VCM. It is shown and chosen in settings, but there is only black screen.

cant get my webcam to be shown through the powertoys videconference mute .

it tries to use it, cant find a media type and then defaults to the laptop main webcam.

my webcam is an unknown model bought off amazon a couple of years ago. it works fine on its own.

Was having a similar issue with my Brio in a different app. I opened up the Logitech G Hub software and navigated to the camera settings and PowerToys was able to pick it up.

Microsoft Azure Kinect 4K Camera always shows as "Camera not in use" even when I'm in a Google Meet, Zoom call, or Discord stream. The "Mute Camera" keyboard shortcut does not disable/enable its output during these streams, or have any affect at all.

The PowerToys microphone does not appear as a choice (but the mute button on the toolbar works).
The PowerToys camera appears (but I had to restart Teams after activating it for it to be picked up). The PowerToys camera works if I am just streaming the regular video. However, whenever I use the mute button, I just get pink bars and dots. It happens with my Logitech c925e

Same problem with the Logitech c925e here. When "muting" the camera I get strange dots displayed.
Using the internal laptop camera it works as intended/expected 🤔

I have the same issue on my Dell Precision with Logitech c922 Pro Stream. The overlay does not render correctly with the Logitech cam, but will render with the integrated webcam.

Thanks for the feedback but VCM is moving to maintenance only in the 0.67 timeframe. Our team will only directly address critical bugs, security and accessibility issues.

We'll accept community PRs for enhancements.

not sure why this future was added and turned on by default. It broke camera on lenovo thinkpad completely that nothing can restore camera back. Not new drivers, or removal of power toys.

1. VCM is off by default.
2. We don't do anything to interfere with an existing camera. You can always go back in and change the camera in the app to whatever it was

I can't camera no longer shows in device manager or any video conference app. It was on by default after auto update. What is the solution to getting the camera back? Turning this feature off did nothing. Uninstall if power toys did nothing. Thank you,
