From the comments in #6460, this looks like a regression. It repros in stable, so not a recent one

  1. open an Interactive Window (either through command or running a # %% cell)
  2. have something in the IW - run a cell, type in the input box
  3. reload VS Code
  4. IW and everything in it is gone

@amunger lost all of the work that was in IW.
