VSCODE auto updates to unsuported os version

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes/No

• VS Code Version: (cant even check it doesnt open anymore)
• OS Version: 10.15.7 (MacOS Catalina)

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Try to open VSCode.
2. Be prompted with a broken install

It should check BEFORE updating not after.

This pc is running the latest available OS, and had a working copy of vscode until yesterday.

Is this a breaking change or dropped support, if so what is the latest release before the drop in support?

I think would be useful to mention it somewhere in the releases, I tried cmd-f the notes and couldn't find it

It's not in the release notes, but we do have the following section in the FAQ. Let me know whether that helps. You might have to set update mode to none.

We did drop support for 10.15 as pointed by the faq section https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/supporting/faq#_can-i-run-vs-code-on-old-macos-versions

But if you received an update that indicates a bug in our update server, can you provide the output of the following steps

1. Install network proxy tool https://proxyman.com/
2. From the last working version trigger an update
3. Capture the request and response headers for domain https://update.code.visualstudio.com, attach them to this issue
