File path and line number linkification - clicking on a selection link should open the editor with a selection

Used Gemini 3 Pro to ask some questions in Plan mode, and the answer contained some selection ranges:

Expected: clicking on the link should open the editor, and set the selection to the specified range
Actual: clicking on the link opens the editor, and places the cursor at the beginning of the specified range but no selection

I seem to recall that this is by design. I originally had to select the entire range but that makes it really easy to accidentally delete the selection

Is there an in-between state where we can highlight the full range when you open the link but not actually select it?

I used to do this for search tool results and I found the selection annoying.

Maybe we copy the behavior of the outline view - single click to reveal or double click to select
