  • VSCode Version: 1.24.1
  • OS Version: MacOS High Sierra (10.13.5)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Have a repo where the last commit message had multiple lines, make any change
  2. From source control, stage the change, and then click ... > commit all (amend) or commit staged (amend)
  3. A single line editor appears, prefilled with the last commit message with newlines removed. It doesn't appear to support any way of having multiple lines.

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

I found a related issue #35182 where there was no default message, this was fixed in PR e0bf4eb - I assume this is where the bug was introduced.
