add the ability to easily add a gpu to container for Memories and other apps that support hardware acceleration.

It would be a very welcome addition if a GPU could easily be attached to the container to allow hardware transcoding.

There are several apps in Nextcloud that can benefit from GPU acceleration, both Intel Quick Sync and Nvidia NVENC. Numerous other docker images have the ability to attach a GPU to use for this purpose, Plex, Jellyfin, etc...

Currently there doesn't seem to be a reliable way to accomplish this. Even after adding the drivers, and attaching the device to the nextcloud-aio-nextcloud it can be seen, but not used.

I installed the drivers by adding them to this variable in the compose file;
- NEXTCLOUD_ADDITIONAL_APKS=imagemagick nodejs npm ghostscript procps libbz2 stdbuf inotify bash ffmpeg libva-utils libva-vdpau-driver libva-intel-driver intel-media-driver mesa-va-gallium

Then using portainer I edited the nextcloud-aio-nextcloud container and added the devices:
/dev/dri/renderD128
&
/dev/dri/
I tried multiple combinations of the two and got the same result every time.

With that done, now when I run occ memories:video-setup I enable trasncoding, and now it says that Quick Sync is available and asks if I would like to use it. I answer yes, but when I go to play a video I still get "Transcode Failed" and the error log mentions a permission error.

Another btw, stdbuff is not a alpine package. What you are looking for is the coreutils package. See #1531

Until this gets "officially" added, is there any way to currently get it working at all that doesn't require rebuilding the image? I've decided to switch to a Quadro P400 instead of Quick Sync, and I'm trying to avoid installing Nextcloud in a VM just for this one thing.

This is Intel only right? I have been doing some more digging and there is an official Nextcloud image based on Debian as well, and installing the NVIDIA drivers on Debian is completely doable.

Would it be possible to go the route many others have, and make a separate NVIDIA image? This way people who don't need NVIDIA support don't have a needlessly large Docker image. And those who do use NVIDIA can not only get hardware transcoding but also TensorFlow, CUDA, & cuDNN for use with the Recognize app.

To keep size down as much as possible, my thought would be to have an env variable like "ENABLE_CUDA", if its set to true, then on the start of the container a script checks to see if the libs already exist, and if not then they get downloaded and installed to a persistent directory. Same thing for ffmpeg, it doesn't take long to compile, and I'd gladly wait 20-30min one time if it meant I didn't need to run NC in a VM with a dedicated GPU.

Would it be possible to get GPU support in AIO as an opt in? The recognize issue doesn't appear to be making much progress. I suppose it could be retrofitted in by modifying the container but i don't want to tamper with the existing installation.

I tried to build ffmpeg with cuda/nvenc libs in docker using JRottenberg's approaches but stacked in missing "libnppc". Unfortunatelly it is a part of nvidia-cuda-toolkit. It is very diffcult for me to get it into te same image with nextloud for successful build and work ffmpeg.
