Similar to slack

  • Show first images in one row with side scrolling (maybe show up to 10 most recent images and then "Open gallery"?)
  • First item would be "Open camera"
  • Show rest of the options as a list below
  • Combine photo and video option -- open camera and switch between photo and video
  • In case Permissions need to change/increase
    • Show permissions dialog on opening the app? If denied show only camera button and gallery button

There were recent discussions about the sense of the feature because of permissions.

Regarding android:
One argument for the feature was that there are too many clicks necessary in android because the document picker is opened.
However this would be solved by implementing the new android recommended photo picker:
https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2023/04/photo-picker-everywhere.html
This would also give users ore control over permissions.
Only if the user would need to share documents other than photos or videos, there could be another option "files" or "document" which would open the file picker which needs more permissions.

issue to implement the photo picker is: nextcloud/talk-android#4313
