I18n French? #45090

What files are you referring to? |
Website pages (excluding API reference): https://github.com/nodejs/nodejs.org/tree/main/locale/fr API reference: https://crowdin.com/project/nodejs/fr |
That's the installer. The node executable itself isn't internationalized and there are no plans to do so. Contributions to the website are of course welcome. |
I suppose we would also welcome a French translation of the Windows installer. |
@targos Yes |
It may be a bit more involved than copying and translating an existing language file because... ...i18n is disabled in the installer. There are a couple of language files but tools/msvs/msi/nodemsi.wixproj only includes en-us.wxl. Some git spelunking indicates the translations were disabled in 2016 until further notice (#7798) and said notice never came. Given that in no one (to my knowledge) complained in those six years, we should probably just make it official and remove the last vestiges. I'll open a PR. |
i18n in the Windows installer was disabled in 2016 for Reasons and never re-enabled. There have been no complaints about lack of localization in the intervening years, suggesting there isn't a huge demand for it either. Let's remove the files because it was confusing at least one potential contributor. Refs: nodejs#45090

I have seen translation files.
Is it possible to translate?
If yes how? With which modality?
Have a good day
