As I could not modify the template provided by @zerotyr in their branch, I had to create a new one - and a new PR with it as well.

hey @ZyanKLee! continuing this convo here.

basically, LGTM is more of a frontend and it ultimately runs CodeQL under the hood. that is to say they're basically the same. however, i'd recommend using CodeQL and code scanning rather than lgtm.com as it offers better integration. furthermore, if you decide to use other code scanning tools, the security tab will give you a one stop shop overview of your security alerts.
