Create a custom Mailchimp newsletter template.
Some suggestions and considerations to keep in mind for a template:

  1. The NumPy branding colors can be found here: NumPy logo refresh numpy.org#37 (comment) or here: https://coolors.co/ffc553-ff9153-4dabcf-4d77cf-9866cf.
I suggest using the following colors as primary for the newsletter:
    #ffc553
    #4d77cf
  2. A template must be mobile responsive.
  3. A template must be in compliance with the terms of the CAN-SPAM Act.

Do you already have a mailing list template so I can see what you are currently working with? Ok if not 🤔 maybe I should subscribe to the existing mailing list

We don't. We are starting from scratch here.:)

Started with some proposals here: https://www.figma.com/file/fmiMF2i2iHFbD5UqARBkOP/Numpy-templates?node-id=13%3A0

To note :

  • There are two main styles (bold and pop just random names tbh)
  • I tried to stick to the main NumPy colours as suggested by @InessaPawson
  • Need to add more social icons (email, website) but that should be manageable
  • Layouts / fonts / etc is all fairly easy to customise
  • Every section is a component -> which makes it reusable and you can easily mix and match to make your templates 😉
  • Also all the images can be changed -> I just used some of my fave Unsplash photos

That's a great selection, @trallard! Thank you! I'd go with this one: https://www.figma.com/file/fmiMF2i2iHFbD5UqARBkOP/Numpy-templates?node-id=13%3A1331.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you all.

I made some adjustments, mainly:

That's a great selection, @trallard! Thank you! I'd go with this one: https://www.figma.com/file/fmiMF2i2iHFbD5UqARBkOP/Numpy-templates?node-id=13%3A1331.

If the header is white and the following section is white it gets lost so I suggest having alternating sections (header and hero, light - coloured or something of the such) see https://www.figma.com/file/fmiMF2i2iHFbD5UqARBkOP/?node-id=43%3A436

I added two new sections:

  1. numbered list
  2. columns with icon and title
Which should be helpful when listing features or the such

Since I am not sure if you plan to have most of the content in the Newsletter or redirect folks to the website or else I have left a mixture of sections with call to action buttons and others without any buttons

I know these are plenty options but:

  1. I want to make sure you have a wide selection of sections for whatever cases you need
  2. Having all these sections should also make it easy to mix and match and tailor according to whatever content you plan to add on that given issue

This looks great, @trallard! Having options is very much appreciated. In our initial discussion about newsletter content, we were leaning towards keeping it light and mostly redirect readers. However, I anticipate that occasionally we will have longer pieces of content in our newsletters.
