Summary

It would be very valuable to have a feature that allows users to follow public projects directly within Elemo.

  • For example:

    • A company or organization could make their project progress publicly available.
    • Users would then be able to observe development in real-time, including updates, milestones, and contributions.
    • This would bring more transparency, encourage community engagement, and could also serve as an educational tool for newcomers to software development.
  • Proposed Outcome:

    • A section in Elemo where public projects can be browsed or followed.
    • Real-time updates (commits, pull requests, issues, deployments, etc.) from these projects could be displayed in a structured timeline.
  • Benefits:

    • Increases transparency in open-source projects.
    • Enables companies/teams to showcase their work in progress.
    • Provides an opportunity for students and developers to learn by watching real-world development cycles unfold.
  • Potential Challenges:

    • Handling large-scale data updates efficiently.
    • Privacy and permissions for organizations that may not want all activity to be visible.
    • UI/UX design for presenting real-time project activity without overwhelming users.

Drawbacks

Increased complexity in implementation.
Higher server and resource usage.
Potential delays in project updates if real-time tracking is enabled.
