Is there any way we can have the current year automatically expand in the sidebar?

@austinlparker - I haven't found a simple way to do that, but I have some ideas which I can try later. Is this issue a blocker in your opinion, or can this be merged?

not a blocker, although it would be good to get it before kubecon
