Intents
Stub page for WebIntents and annotation.
Through WebIntents, the various widgets of Annotator could possibly be decoupled and mediated by a standard. This might make UI more directly customizable through plugins.
It's possible that using intents for annotation avoids cross domain authentication issues. Annotating in a new window may be appropriate for some cases, such as when space is constrained on a mobile device. In this case, annotations may or may not be reflected in the view of the source material in [real time](Real-Time Plugin).
This also relates to Extensions. There is some support in chrome for registering application support for intents and even prompting installation via the Chrome store when pages request that intent. This opens interesting possibilities for embedding and distributing Annotator.
