I think that after so long series of RCs it would be good to meke new release (last one was in 2016).

We're working on it, current plan is 1.0.0 is right after rc93 which will be done this month. Note that each RC release has actually been production-ready, the only reason why we're calling them release candidates is because of SemVer and OCI specification requirements. You can track this in #2659.
