Motivation and Context

make shellcheck fails with shellcheck 0.9.0 (standard in Debian 12).

cmd/zed/zed.d/history_event-zfs-list-cacher.sh:25:3: note: Command appears to be unreachable. Check usage (or ignore if invoked indirectly). [SC2317]
cmd/zed/zed.d/history_event-zfs-list-cacher.sh:26:3: note: Command appears to be unreachable. Check usage (or ignore if invoked indirectly). [SC2317]

Description

This new check in 0.9.0 appears to have some issues with various forms of "early return", like trap, exit and return. This is tripping up (at least):

  • cmd/zed/zed.d/history_event-zfs-list-cacher.sh
  • etc/zfs/zfs-functions

Its not obvious what its complaining about or what the remedy is, so it seems sensible to disable this check for now.

  • Code cleanup (non-breaking change which makes code smaller or more readable)
  • Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to change)
  • Library ABI change (libzfs, libzfs_core, libnvpair, libuutil and libzfsbootenv)
  • Documentation (a change to man pages or other documentation)
