Select Topic AreaBug GitHub Feature AreaPages BodyHelp! seems I can no longer create any new directories for my github pages site. Ive tried everything cache and rebuild of the site etc. Anyone have ideas of how to fix this issue? |

I took a look at your page and noticed: I'm not sure how to fix this, but have you tried renaming test1.html to index.html? |

Thanks for your reply. I have tried many steps to troubleshoot including what you're suggesting above, everything has been working fine for the past 6 months and suddenly in the past few weeks all new files get a 404 error and no new changes are being reflected. 🙁 |

Exactly, I see everything uploaded and updated in the repo , but nothing is being reflected on the github pages URL or I get a 404 error. Everything has been working fine for the past 6 months and suddenly past weeks having this issue. |

GitHub Pages did have an update to how pages are built (behind the scenes). it uses Jekyll, and sometimes Jekyll makes changes to files to fit its schemas. This can cause breaks in the deployments that are difficult to diagnose. When you create a .nojekyll file, it lets pages know not to use Jekyll for the deployment. |
