As far as i can tell, there's no option to remove your current profile picture and reset it back to the default image. You can only edit/upload a new one.
Having an option to remove it would be great for privacy!

To remove your github profile image and reset to default image.

You can go to github profile settings via https://github.com/settings/profile on the right side of your screen. You will see your github profile image, then click on that image and it will have 2 choice

• Upload a photo... ❌
• Remove photo (Choose this one) ✅

That's it. ☺️

It removes my current photo and reverts to my previous photo, which appears to have be automatically taken from Gravatar. There is no option to remove the default photo.

That's what's happening for me too; also I can't upload a new photo even though it's under 1 MiB—the loading ball spins without ever progressing. Edit: Update: See https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/144144 discussion.
