i try to hosting my portfolio website on github page but i can't....i tired ...i follow the step properly but i can't ..any one assist me please

first you need to know the conditions that need to be understood before hosting on GitHub:

1. Your code must be static
2. The only files that can be hosted on GitHub are CSS, JS, and HTML
3. If you want to use a backend, you can't put the backend code here, but you need to host it to an external service, then fetch the API to the HTML code which will be hosted on this github.

Steps for hosting on Github:

1. Create a repository with the title: (username).github.io
2. do not use readme.md
3. Upload your file and make sure the index.html file is in the root
4. You can see on the right there is an "environment" tab, if it says "github-pages active" then your repository has been successfully hosted.
5. open your github website via the link: (username).github.io

If point 4 above still fails, you can do:

1. Open your repository settings
2. look at the tabs on the left there are tabs "pages" press the tab
3. adjust each column to be:

• source : deploy from a branch
• branch : master/main & /root

4. check "enforce HTTPS
5. click save
   notes: the steps above sometimes take a while, wait a moment until you can see the repository website link is available on the pages tab.

@bagas050201 I just created my repo and followed your instructions, but I still see 404 Not Found error. Could you please help me resolve this issue.

It takes a while until it's hosted. Should be up and running when you check back later. Wait for around 20 - 30 mins for any changes to reflect, although in most cases, the changes a reflected sooner than that.

@lakith-pusarla you can also check if your index.html file is accessible within the root source.
