Too many files open or table overflow

I'm running an *arr stack, calibre-web and calibre under orbstack. I keep getting errors similar to the one below across this setup:

From Lidarr:

System.IO.IOException: Too many open files in system :

From Audiobookshelf:

Error: ENFILE: file table overflow

I've implemented this documented fix and my ulimit -a output is below:

-t: cpu time (seconds) unlimited
-f: file size (blocks) unlimited
-d: data seg size (kbytes) unlimited
-s: stack size (kbytes) 8176
-c: core file size (blocks) 0
-v: address space (kbytes) unlimited
-l: locked-in-memory size (kbytes) unlimited
-u: processes 2666
-n: file descriptors 524288

But I keep getting the error. Is this Orbstack specific? Docker? It seems it's an Apple silicon problem. Is there a fix?
