support for animated gifs on android 8.1?

Hi, im unable to view gifs in rss feeds (even when only a gif is in the feed) regardless of the "browser" setting. I used to be able to view these just fine, so i suspect getting rid of google play services or updating to android 8.1 messed with this somehow -- most likely related to the webview.

im running android 8.1 running nextcloud-news 0.9.9.16. im using android system webview 67.0.3396.87.
any help would be appreciated. i saw #311 where adding a separate gif viewer was discussed and if this is still a possibility i think it would be a great solution to my specific problem.

Thank you for the report. This bug should be fixed within the next release. I disabled the software rendering method for the webview as suggested here: element-hq/riot-android#2168
