Is it is possible to use an sdmTMB model with fisheries catch data? |

Yes, although the tricky part though is if you want to account for preferential sampling (not currently supported in sdmTMB), and there is a literature on this for spatiotemporal GLMMs more generally (along with some cool new work on integrating scientific monitoring data with fishery-dependent data, e.g., Rufener et al. 2021: https://doi.org/10.1002/eap.2453) Here’s a recent paper that tries to look at how the non-random sampling will impact predictions of standardized cpue: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.fishres.2021.106169 And check out this paper by Paul Conn et al. https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/2041-210X.12803 |
