How can I add a comment to a column that is a foreign key?

After creating a one-to-many-relationship I am unable to add a comment to the foreign key that was created. On the table itself it says "This object is protected thus no change in form will be applied to it.".

The relationship itself has (seemingly) no option to comment it.

Am I overlooking something or is this not possible?

tl;dw: convert the relationship. I am not 100% sure what convert does, but so far it does the trick.
