1. Intro

Provides user the ability to maximize the use of their processor. There are two basic requirements for this to work.

  • Utilizing Ubuntu 16 / 18 (not Debian)
  • Utilizing PG on direct hardware (not a VPS, KVM, VM, and etc)

2. Information

There are three modes a user is able to select from:

  • Performance Mode: Performance mode enables your process to make judgement calls that tends to max out the use of a system. This is recommended for servers or systems where a user want to keep the processor running at maximum capacity. This is not recommended for a system such as a laptop.

  • Ondemand Mode: A well balanced mode that has the ability to run at it's maximum capacity. Ideal for servers or users who prefer not to max out their electric bill.

  • Conservative Mode: A mode that is not recommended, but may be ideal for low power users, to save on electricity or running your server on a mobile laptop (which again is not ideal); but an option that is provided for the users.

3. Summary

Test out each mode and view the processor policy after you make the changes to see how it impacts your server. Keep in mind that changing the mode requires the system to be rebooted and does not apply until the reboot is conducted.
