Correct/Refactor the unit tests to eliminate pytest Warnings

Issue

When running the unit tests, they all pass successfully, but there are several (11) warnings displayed as shown below:

Why it's important

We want to correct these tests to eliminate any warnings. In future versions of pytest these warnings will become errors.
