This is a somewhat awkward position for us -- pyo3 0.16 drops support for Python 3.6, which still represents 15% of our downloads, so we aren't going to upgrade to it. |
Makes sense. Out of curiosity what is the download threshold for EOL versions that triggers dropping support? |
We don't have a formally documented policy, but the factors we look at are:
a) low usage (single digits at minimum, and ideally well under 5%), b)
whether there are major distribution platforms that still ship that version
of Python (or OpenSSL for that matter)
