v2.2.1 on PyPI wasn't published from `main`

Commit 2a8f95f, created February 2025, removed references to Python 2.7. Currently, it's the latest commit in the 2.2 branch.

Then in October 2025, v2.2.1 was published to PyPI but still references Python 2.7.

This suggests that v2.2.1 on PyPI doesn't contain the expected code. Could you double-check what was published, and yank the release if it's incorrect?
