Dark Reign 2 MINT Lobby Testing

Information

This patch implements a new lobby system for Dark Reign 2 allowing players to play online.

With the shutdown of WON (World Opponent Network), I present MINT (Multiplayer International).

There have been ~10 other players but we're still actively trying to combine the fragmented community back together.

Instructions

I've provided .7z and .zip versions for convenience.
Some people were getting confused with multiple files so moving forwards, only a .zip file is provided if you wish to patch your current installation.

You simply download the file named DR2.Total.Patch.145800.zip in the assets section of this page and replace the files in your current game directory. (Don't forget to extract the contents of the .zip file, you should be prompted to replace existing files / overwrite your current version of dr2.exe)
Alternatively, you can download the full game mentioned above - everything is already patched in that case.

1. Extract the contents of DR2.Total.Patch.145800.zip to your existing Dark Reign 2 installation directory and replace all files as necessary.
2. Run the game as usual. It should now work if you navigate to Multiplayer -> WON

Issues

• If you install your game to C:\Program Files (x86)\... - the game requires admin rights to run correctly. Alternatively, you can grant access to the directory to users of your computer.
• Moving forwards, https://dr2.mintsoft.dev/motd/darkreign2/downloads/dr2_fullgame_145800.exe will install to AppData\Local which will not require administrator privileges.
• Some users have reported that their virus scanner is marking the download as suspicious and deleting it. This is normal, since this software isn't very common - antivirus software isn't sure on what it is and may block it - how you proceed at this point depends on the type of antivirus software you are running - all releases have been scanned and are fine to run.
• Some installations attempt to fix music by providing patched copies of winmm.dll / mss32.dll etc. these aren't required for this version of the game as everything has been fixed correctly, not by way of weird hacks.

• 5.8: Tweaked path-finding and particle simulations.
• 5.8: Removed forced mouse acceleration in full screen, the game was unplayable for some people.
• 5.8: Included docs folder detailing map creation / game modifications.
• 5.7: Add music back into the game.
• 5.6: Fix playback issues with CD music / allow music folder containing .ogg files to be used instead of Redbook Audio.
• 5.5: RC1, game client will automatically update to this version to keep everyone on the same page.
• 5.4: Stability fixes, MOTD in lobby, auto-update support.
• 5.4: Re-enabled ALT+F4 as a temporary workaround for the game occasionally hanging at exit.
• 5.3: Altered logic for handling local ip address set in multiplayer options. If a user attempts to join an online game created by another user on their internal network, it will be provided with the local ip address of that user instead of their external, public ip address.
• 5.1: User "ÇŧßÅl-l" found an issue with ANSI decoding so make sure you download beta release 5.1 or later.
