@finalight it wasn't a priority for us for a while, but we decided recently that it should be now. @thedavidprice and I will pick it up soon; expect movement on it this week or next. It's probably not too involved of an upgrade, and we certainly want the performance gains for our CI as well.

Summary:

• I followed the blog post and migration guide
• jest's default snapshotting format has changed
  • I'm opting us into the v29 breaking change (just about snapshot formatting) so that we don't have to break again later
• the export from 'jest-environment-*' (used for making custom test environments) is now a named export
• patching jest's default resolver is necessary for web-side test because uuid doesn't export a commonjs version to browsers. the patch is temporary, and validated by the community

If anything causes users problems downstream, I'm guessing it would be https://jestjs.io/blog/2022/04/25/jest-28#packagejson-exports, and that would have to be handled on a case-by-case basis.
