Hi Steve, can you explain the difference between "en" and "dans" to me and why this is the correct way of expressing "in X amount of time"?

I have not written this locale, but I'm curious what's the difference.

Saying "en" x hours for example, denotes the time taken for an event in French.
Ex: "This work can be done in 2 hours.
"Dans" means that the event has not yet passed tho, and will be in the future. All this, of course, is specific to the French language.
I'm not sure my explanations are good enough, i hope you get the main idea.
