@jmorim, you might be interested in this resource if you haven't heard of it yet. |
I should also mention that the FAQ explicitly states that data are available for use under a creative commons license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/) |
Sure I'll get on it. |
"There are other search features for foods and food ingredients that are outside of the scope of webchem." I am not sure those are outside of scope. |
Hi - the website is totally down - can you by any chance share those json files ?! |
I would try to contact the corresponding author (Ganesh Bagler) of the paper linked in the issue, if you haven't already. |

Suggested database: FlavorDB:
Feasibility. Doesn't provide an API, but data on molecule info cards is available in JSON format and shouldn't be too difficult to download and parse. Uses PubChem IDs in URLs for molecule info cards, so a first step implementation accepting PubChem IDs would be quite easy.
Scope. Primarily flavor and odor percepts of molecules. Has some interesting features such as similarity search (something implemented by a third party), visual search (essentially a flavor ontology), and search by functional group (e.g. "ketone" to search all ketones). Returns some standard identifiers (SMILES, CAS, PubChem ID) as well as identifiers for other taste and odor specific databases (e.g. FooDB FooDB #145). There are other search features for foods and food ingredients that are outside of the scope of webchem.
Overlap. The only flavor info we currently have is in the rather small flavornet database as well as whatever is integrated into PubChem.
