This year I decided to really only copy the previous Markdown file and fix dates and Rust versions in this initial PR, to avoid long bikeshedding. We should then send individual PRs to resolve the various issues from last year.

Closes: #250
Closes: #252
Closes: #254

It is bootstrapped from the 2023 survey.
The future Rust versions were guesstimated, we need to modify them based on the release date of the survey.

I left a few tentative solutions to close a few comments from last year. Open to discuss the wording!

I added a few small changes based on your suggestions. I think that the questions regarding feature stabilizations should receive larger changes, I'd like to do that in separate PRs.

Copying from @apiraino's zulip thread, some questions I think would be useful:

  • Would you support and/or enable an opt-in mechanism for the Rust Project to gather compiler metrics?
  • What features that have landed on stable in the past ~1 year do you use, want to use, know about, don't know about?
  • What is the most difficult part of the language for you? (this is hard because we would want to include things like using cargo or rust-analyzer)
  • How did you hear about this survey?
  • How do you typically learn about Rust development?

I'm going to go ahead and merge this, so that we have a baseline against which we can send PRs with changes.

Created #271 and #272 for Jack's suggestions (apart from the ones already discussed on Zulip).
