Widget overview

Widgets are blocks that display information. They can be added to documents on the site, to the home page and to the sidebar(s) of the site.

Adding/editing widgets

To get to the widget edit screen, you first need to click a link. If you want to edit the home page or a sidebar, click the "Edit column layout" link that appears on the top of the homepage/sidebar. If you want to edit the widgets of a document, click the "Edit" link on the top of the document.

The widget edit screen displays a list of widgets that are currently added to the document. Below each widgets, links are present to edit, move or remove the widget. On the bottom of the page, there are links to add a new widget.

There are several types of widgets that can be added. Their purpose and edit screens are explained below.

Widget types

Display articles

Displays a list of articles from one or more categories. The following options are available:

  • Title Title that appears just above the article list. May be left blank.
  • Categories The categories that the articles are fetched from.
  • Article count The maximum number of articles displayed.
  • Display type The way the articles are displayed. You can choose to use a compact list, or you can give articles more space by letting them display their intro.
  • Order Whether the order is old-to-new or new-to-old.
  • Archive Whether a link to the article archive is displayed.

Calendar

Displays a calendar of upcoming events. Only one option is available:

  • Title Title that appears just above the calendar. May be left blank.

Comments

Displays the latest comments on the site. The following options are available:

  • Title Title that appears just above the comment list. May be left blank.
  • Comment count The maximum number of comments that are displayed.

Links

Displays a list of links. The links are fetched from one of the menus on your site. The following options are available:

  • Title Title that appears just above the list of links. May be left blank.
  • Menu The menu to display the links of.

Display text

Displays a block of static text. The following options are available:

  • Title Title that appears just above the block of text. May be left blank.
  • Message The text to display.
