…led alot, this seems to favor inlining
On my machine now the previous code path was probably vectorized but this way we have the structure to handle platforms where it's not

This adds structure to potentially improve the modulation "mixing" code paths, which are quite consuming apparently. For now the SSE version does not add anything on my machine.
