[Announcement] New SGLang Release Versioning Scheme #16309

@Kangyan-Zhou

Description

@Kangyan-Zhou

Hi folks!

We’d like to share an update on our more structured release versioning scheme, which is designed to better communicate change scope and upgrade expectations:

  • 0.X.Y → 0.(X+1).Y

Large updates — may include major features, behavior changes, or architectural improvements.
👉 Expect more impact; review release notes carefully before upgrading.

  • 0.X.Y → 0.X.(Y+1)

Regular minor updates — incremental improvements and non-breaking enhancements.
👉 Released on a predictable cadence (every 2-3 weeks), safe to upgrade routinely.

  • 0.X.Y → 0.X.Y.post1/2/...

Patch releases — Hotfix only for CVE and important bug fixes.
👉 Low risk, recommended for stability and production fixes.

For minor and large updates, we’ve been enforcing stronger test coverage across all supported platforms, and will highlight important changes in the release notes. As always, please let us know if you encounter any issues during upgrades—thanks for your continued support!
