[feature request] Toggle window open/close #3486
Comments
For me, the context menu appears no matter if I right-click or left-click. I wish to have Signal open on left-click rather than have it show the context menu. Did you find any setting to open Signal instead of show the context menu on left-click? I'm using OpenSUSE Linux with KDE. |
I've just started experiencing this bug on Signal after updating to 1.34.4. I'm on Ubuntu 19.10, KDE Plasma. I've had the exact problem with Skype for Linux for ages, so smells like an Electron bug. One of several Electron bug reports. |

Hi, I just wanted to say, that I'm still interested in this. |
It would be useful to allow a way to quickly open/close signal window. Currently, I see two problems:
Clicking the system tray once opens the window (great, works as you would expect). However, clicking it again while the window is open does nothing. Instead, it should close the open window (i.e. toggle window open/close in a single click). A right-click followed by a left-click should not be the only option for those who use tiling window managers that lack an "x" button to close the window.
The more relevant issue (AFAIK) is that there isn't a way to bind the signal app to toggle open/close to a key. I start signal minimized to a system tray with
signal-desktop --user-tray-icon --start-in-tray &
and can't find a way to launch the window and minimize it. In fact, I couldn't find any documentation regarding the command line options and only came across it because I was looking for such a workflow via a gh issue.[x] I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates
