Welcome to the RGB-Clock wiki!

Usage

On the front of the control panel there are 3 buttons and below a light sensor. The buttons are Hour - Set - Minute

Clock Mode

While the clock is running a short press on the buttons will change the colours of the hour/minute digits and the central colon. The digits cycle with:

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple, Magenta, Harlequin, colour cycle and white

while the colon cycles only the colours (including white)

Make sure your power supply can provide enough power for all the LEDs especially when white. Each LED will need 0.06A so plan accordingly

The harlequin sets each segment in the digit to a colour and will then cycle each through the rainbow. Colour cycle changes the colour through the rainbow of all the segments in unison.

The settings will be stored in EEPROM 5 seconds after the last button press, to reduce EEPROM wear. The display flashes as it is written.

To set the time or adjust other settings press and hold the middle set button for two seconds.

Time Setting Mode

The display defaults to red and the colons are turned off.

To set the clock the hour and minute buttons count and cycle through their respective digits. Press and hold to count automatically.

Pressing the set button briefly will set (or un-set) daylight saving modes. When pressed, the minute display will show "on" or "of(f)" in cyan.

Holding the set button down for two seconds will progress to the next setting options

Options Settings One

This mode will allow the setting of the display timer – what time the display will be on or off – as well as setting the override to enable the display to come on if the light level goes about a certain amount (i.e. it is set to turn off at night, but using the override will allow the display to come back on if the rooms lights are turned on).

Short pressing the set button will change between setting the ON and OFF times, while pressing the hour button will change the time for the current setting.

If the on and off times are both set to the same value the display will stay on except when they are both set to midnight (00). When set to that time, this display will stay off consantly and only come on if the light level is set using the AUTO mode.

Pressing the minute button cycles through the override levels. The display will change to “AUT” and then display a number between 0 to 3.

0 = no override – display will remain off when between the off and on times 1 = low light – display will turn on at very low light levels 2 = medium light – display will turn on at moderate light levels – i.e. turning a light on 3 = high light – display will only turn on at quite high brightness levels – i.e. daylight

Press and hold the set button to store changes and move on to the next setting options.

Options Settings Two

Here you can change the display to show either a 12 or 24 hour mode and select if you want a leading zero on the hour digits.

Pressing the hour button will change between 12 and 24 hour display (please note setting the time will always be done in 24 hour mode). When in 12 hour mode, the clock will flash the upper part of the colon for AM and the lower part for PM. In 24 hour mode both halves of the colon flash. The hour digits will display the current mode.

Pressing the minute button will select if you want a leading zero on the hour display. The minute display will show “00” for a leading zero and “ 0” for no leading zero.

Again press and hold the set button to store changes and return to the clock display
