The rwlock.rs file is getting to be a bit long; I think it should be split into multiple files. As a rule of thumb, a single module shouldn't be more than 1000 lines.
(I'm busy for the time being and won't be able to take a more in depth look until the weekend).

Is there any reason why you've inlined several methods here?

Consistency with the equivalent trivial methods on the Arc guards. I can remove them if you like
