I work full time on open source projects, with most of my efforts going to develop a portable immediate mode GUI library in Go, Gio. I also maintain the Android and iOS ports of Go as well as keep the mobile builders running.
Previously I was the maintainer of Go Mobile that allows Go code to run in native Android and iOS apps.
Your sponsorship will help ensure that I can keep devoting my full time on Gio in particular and to make Go a natural choice for writing GUI programs in general. I've been working on it since 2017 and plan to spend the next year or so on the following larger features:
- Building the material design widget library.
- Gio 1.0, the guaranteed backwards compatible release ready for general use.
- Right-to-left layout support.
- Support for assistive technologies, such as as screen readers.
- Exposing the GPU to Gio programs in a 3D-library agnostic way.
To keep Gio sustainable in the long run it needs at least a handful of dedicated people, and your sponsorship is an important part of that goal.
