I am the inventor of mermaid and I dedicate much of my free time working with it. Sponsorship would enable me to spend more time on the project. I would use the additional time to add new diagram types. State diagrams, use case diagrams, and ERD diagrams would be some of the possible improvements I would focus on.

I would also spend time making sure the underlying tech stack is being kept up to date, ensuring that the project stays current. Another area worth focusing on is building out the automated test suits for safer and more time efficient releases.
