**Summary** The upgrade to AndroidX was premature and has caused upgrade issues or inconveniences for users. Our SDK does not currently depend on any features introduced with AndroidX, so the best path forward is to downgrade to the latest Support Library version. **Motivation** ANDROID-339 **Testing** Manually tested
