Top cut 2022-06

  • Random from X.
  • Oracles: resurface notes with targeted prompts. "How does this change my understanding? What does this disconfirm? What questions are triggered by this? Who could answer this?" etc. Think Oblique Strategies, but a bit smarter, algorithmic.
  • Related links: Suggest links to related notes in your notebook and extended network.
  • Concept collider: juxtapose notes by semantic similarity, sparking new ideas. Source from your notebook and extended network. Think Twemex highlights, where your notes are the seed.
  • Emergent themes: surface well-connected ideas with many backlinks.
  • Spaced repetition: boring to me, but people love it.
  • Generative writing prompts (Popular community plugins in the Obsidian community hack together a basic version of this https://forum.obsidian.md/t/rfc-oblique-strategies-writing-prompts-reflection-creators-block/9997)
  • ...and perhaps a Twitter Geist that handles bridging Twitter content to your Subconscious feed.

Geist ideas

  • "Draw again". In Tarot, you can draw an additional card when you need further clarification. What if we let users draw another provocation for a specific note?
    • Imagine a "draw" button next to the "open/link/remix" primary actions. When you click it, it generates an additional story by this same Geist, using this same context. The story is placed into the feed below the story you're looking at.
  • Storylets (see Max Kreminski https://youtu.be/66O6WDcT8KY?t=264). In Reigns, some actions "deal" several cards on to the top of the deck. You can think of them as storylets, little self-standing story arcs embedded in a larger story arc. What if Geists could generate storylets?
    • Imagine a Geist that looks at recently edited note and generates a storylet made up of 3-5 notes which are related.
    • Imagine a Geist that generates a series of prompts or instructions w/r/t a specific note.
    • Could this be implemented through the Subtext the Geist generates?
    • Do we want a "compound" story type?
