dotfiles

This repository contains my personal dotfiles.

So I failed with Nix/home-manager once again and have to give up. I had a nice, working configuration, really. Even the files were linked. But then I stumbled over the last 5% that didn't work (LD_LIBRARY_PATH-issues, spitting out some wired error messages when invoking import statements in a regular Python-file. What the ...). Beside parts of the community being, well, ...

Tried Spack, and it was really intriguing. Easy, logical, configurable, not such a mess as Nix & Co. But I didn't manage to install even Neovim. It found the package, it listed the versions, but got an irritating error message about their concretionizer. So: thank you, already wasted too much time with Nix already.

Guix is another contender, with mixed feedback. Maybe I will try it in the future, but I need some thing WORKING. Right NOW!

So I found this blog entry which ticked a lot of boxes. Starting over with this approach right now, using chezmoi and mise-en-place.

Stay tuned (talking to myself, obviously :-) )!
