Enable GitHub discussions on this repository to facilitate threaded discussion? #209
Comments
I think at least for now, we're way too deep in #205 to move it out. For future proposals - surely considerable. |
I clicked over there and may have turned them on by accident, yes |
Ah, turned it back off - I don't actually want to have the Discussions feature on. ^_^ Some degree of topic wandering is fine and common, and sometimes necessary; when it's really branching off one can just create a new issue and shift over there. This repo is just having issues because there's a Big Topic that people want to keep talking about, and they're not paying proper attention to putting that in the issues already dedicated to it. If they hadn't all happened on the weekend (where I don't do work), I would have moderated them before they got too far gone. |
The opening line of this #205 (comment) resonated with me. It seems that each comment on each issue in this forum spirals off into its own sub discussion. @tabatkins even expressed disappointment in people's inability to stay on topic in this #203 (comment) and it all seems a little difficult to moderate. GitHub does have a feature for threaded discussions however: GitHub Discussions. Perhaps this issue tracker has reached the scale where it might benefit from something like that. What do the mods think?
Sorry if this is known to be off the table. I don't mean to create even more noise. I couldn't find, nor did I know where to look, to know whether tc39 already has a stance on usage of this feature.
