Comparison with pump.io? #203
Comments
it seems that matsodon is OStatus based, and has private statuses, accounts, and direct/private messaging |
You would actually want to compare more against ActivityPub at this point,
OStatus is super old and likely to be dropped by networks that are using it
some time in the near future.
Mastodon is already looking at leveraging the standard. Diaspora is also
informally looking into it, as is Friendica.

Also, FYI, ActivityPub is the new name of the original spec developed for
Pump. Pump itself is a prototype platform for playing around with these
ideas.

I'm always sad to see absurd fracturing of standards in this area, and tent was clearly around before pump, but I'm wondering (now that they both exist) how they compare in the areas that OStatus was once clearly inferior in, as explained in issue #4 and issue #58
