Removes shoulder fire from the game #17061
Conversation
next we need to remove ff damage reduction for ultimate trolling :trol: |
I’m not gonna mince words— this is some bullshit. I’ve been playing Xeno here and there for god knows how long and playing Xeno only for the past few weeks because of Marine win rates and I cannot say that shoulder fire is at all in need of touching. Removing Aimmode for Shoulder Fire was a change that ultimately seemed to work out, sure, but then following up with this? As xope? It’s just too much. Not needed. Stop coping and play the video game, please. |
Generally agree with this, giving marines replacement for aimmode that didn't retain aim mode's damage nerf was bound to be a disaster, and it only takes one lame metagang maximally playing around that fact to make it super unfun. Would like to see aimmode implemented on smartscopes instead, so that marines choosing a support gunner position have to dedicate attachies to it and take a damage hit for doing so, |
Honestly, should just be removed from the weapons that didn't have aim- mode in the first place. The orginal pr killed a bunch of random rifles no one would never use without aim mode, especially when shotguns and other stuff that didn't have aim mode got buffed with shoulder fire lol. (wait, this is tgmc balance where everything that has a problem is nuked instead of being changed in a conservative way first) |
Aimmode was removed from the majority of guns because of stacking, it was controversial as fuck (was a good change in the end), but we had shoulderfire as a minimum-effort-required replacement that reduced the ungaball massivey. To remove shoulderfire as a knee-jerk reaction to marines unlocking one of their two braincells seems like a shit move. Esp. comboing it with other compounding changes to weapon falloff/stacking. Maybe time to del. this codebase and replace it with CM, as long as we port diagonals ig |
TBH dunno what's the matter, shoulder fire barely ever fucking worked. |
The big issue here is that marines are actually fucking coordinating and we’re coping by deleting the thing you can coordinate around- you can’t just say “it’s barely used” when Marines barely cooperate but the game is more fun as a Marine when you do. Like, what do you want to incentivize there? A favorite shoulder fire moment of mine was shoulder firing a SADAR at a charging Xeno and then sending my VALI HOUND at the staggered bug. Shit like that is fun, stop coping, find a different fix. |
Im gonna be honest iff in general is a meme, and I've never needed it in the aimmode days or now. I can't even comprehend relying on it. |
On one hand that's nice and all but it's so damn rare thanks to game hammering it down that moving like a spastic chimp is good to not get railed by xenos as easily. |
the different fix would've been nerfing all guns to balance with mass IFF in mind, which i doubt people would like more than simply removing shoulder fire, thus... |
About The Pull Request
Tittle
Why It's Good For The Game
Allows too much meme potential with stacking weapons, and although said weapons are fine otherwise, if shoulder fire remains in the game they'd have to be nerfed because of it
