the IPA have a required title field for employees of member companies that does not include Mx, but does include a bunch of military titles that i'd be surprised to learn have ever been used by IPA members

Good afternoon.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Peter Shillito and I run "The Mx Thing" on https://dontgender.me/ to keep track of company websites that let you choose "Mx" as a gender neutral title as an alternative to titles such as "Mr" or "Mrs" which identify someone as male or female.

In a similar way to how "Ms" lets women hide their marital status, "Mx" lets people hide their gender, but is also used by those who do not identify as male or female and instead identify as non-binary.

A user of my website has contacted me to inform me that the IPA registration form has a list of titles that, while extensive, does not include "Mx". You can see their message publicly here: #15

Please can you add "Mx" to your list of titles so that those who use this title can sign up without having to lie or otherwise use a title they're not comfortable with.

I phoned IPA and spoke with their Web support. They admitted the list of titles is ridiculous, especially the inclusion of "HRH". I provided a few suggestions on how to implement a more inclusive title field and they confirmed that, at the very least, adding "Mx" to the title list is on the list of things to do. I'll check back next month to see if it's been done or not.
