Preliminary checklist

  • I have read the README.
  • I have searched the existing issues for my problem. This is a new ticket, NOT a duplicate or related to another open issue.
  • I have read the FAQs.
  • I have updated Cromite to the latest version. The bug is reproducible on this latest version.
  • This is a bug report about the Cromite browser; not the website nor F-Droid nor anything else.

Can the bug be reproduced with corresponding Chromium version?

I haven't try it, only use Cromite. But inline autofill patch is not related to Chromium afaik, its from Bromite.

Are you sure?

Describe the bug

Inline Autofill is no longer working with the latest update that was released yesterday ([v124.0.6367.60-7ed682ea157d5dbb90eecc05e4ab57edac1ca23b)

The earlier version (v123.0.6312.122-f176811628e8293ee50094e304dbfb7eacb41ce5) is working as expected.

I tried to disable and re-enable Autofill with no luck.

Happens in both normal and Incognito modes.

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Install a password manager that is using native Android autofill (in my case, 1Password 8 Beta)
  2. Open any website with username and password fields. Tap to any of these
  3. The keyboard should show inline autofill for this website but it doesn't.
  4. Now install the earlier version of Cromite (v123.0.6312.122-f176811628e8293ee50094e304dbfb7eacb41ce5) and repeat the steps. The inline autofill will work.

Expected behavior

Inline autofill should work as expected

With the flag chrome://flags/#enable-autofill-virtual-view-structure enabled it works

I don't think it has anything to do with that flag, it works intermittently, I think I know what is missing but I have to try.

I can confirm this.

Autofill (proton pass) stopped working alltogether with Chromite. When I turned on the above flag, all problems disappeared.

Same here with bitwarden (no more autofill).
Work

Thanks, also with bitwarden now

This works, thank you.
Tested on Android 14, with bitwarden and Gboard inline autofill. Latest cromite from F-droid repo.

@uazo Is this planned to be fixed in the next version, so we don't have to rely on the flag? Thanks.

can we ensure Autofill+Frequent items options are always displayed in submenu?
Sometimes OS decides not show them for whatever reason.
