Firefox syntax error on use of deep combinator (>>>)

Using Firefox 40 a syntax error ("An invalid or illegal string was specified") is produced when using the all selector as the deep combinator is not supported. Chrome has also deprecated it.
There doesn't seem to be a way to pierce the shadow boundary.
