An Angular library NPM starter (or example) project to ease setup of Angular libraries as NPM packages from your GitHub repo
This project was generated with Angular CLI version 13.3.5 but updated to version 17.0.9.
- Install the latest version of angular CLI on your machine
npm install -g @angular/cli@latest
- git clone https://github.com/uzenith360/npm-package-starter
- npm install
- Search/replace my github handle, NPM Package name/Github repo and package.json description with yours.
- Create github/NPM/Synk tokens (See next section) and add to the secrets in your github repo
- Delete the ngx-lib example library in the
projects/
folder together with its references in the angular.json and tsconfig.json files, then create your library using this command (ng generate library your-library
) - Search/replace the example library name
ngx-lib
with yours - List any
@angular/*
dependencies your library depends on as peer dependencies in the package.json file that's in your library folder. This ensures that when library modules ask for Angular, they all get the exact same module. - Make sure to export all components needed in projects that use your library, also avoid importing BrowserModule or BrowserAnimationsModule in your library module as it might cause issues in projects using your library.
- Optional: You can create an example app, to view your library development in action
ng generate application your-example-app
and serve side-by-side with your library while developingng build your-library --watch
ng serve -o your-example-app
. If you use angular material in your library, add the following string to thearchitect > styles
array of your example app in angular.json ("projects/ngx-navigation-animation-example-app/src/styles.css"
)
For this setup you will need to create 3 auth tokens and save them as secrets in your github repo's settings,
- NPM token: An Automation-type access token from npm to be used solely in CI environments so that it is able to work around your account’s 2FA. To create one, go to https://www.npmjs.com/settings/<your-npm-account>/tokens. Be sure to select the type “Automation” as this will be used in a CI/CD workflow. i named it NPM_TOKEN
- Github repo token: A personal access token from GitHub, to enable github actions access your public repositories. To create one go to https://github.com/settings/tokens select Personal access tokens > Tokens (Classic). Click on the button to create new token and select repo (Full control of private repositories), write:packages and delete:packages. I named it GH_Token
- Synk API token: Snyk is a tool that simplifies security checks, to help monitor for, alert on, and offer assistance to mitigate vulnerabilities. Snyk is free, so sign-up and get your Snyk API Token. Add your Snyk API Token as a Repository Secret on GitHub: https://github.com/<your-account-or-organization>/<your-repo-name>/settings/secrets/actions/new. I named it SNYK_TOKEN
For support, open an issue or email wogwugwu.zenith@gmail.com, I will do my best to respond to all issues
Don't forget to search/replace my github handle, NPM Package name/Github repo and example library name with yours, after you fork/clone/download this repo :)
If you like it remember to give repo a star⭐
